TRAP LORD: A REVIEW

Image

With comparisons to the great ODB, his verse on Ghetto Symphony and having the standout track on the A$AP mob mixtape, Asap Ferg is yet to come out of the shadow of his more well-known mob mate and this mixtape should serve as his opportunity to do so.

LET IT GO

Menage ain’t a thing they whores

Pussy so good, need more

Let me get in those drawers

5-0 in the corner store

He heard all them claps with a round of  applause

Spit at your back and you lie on the floor

This starts off with A$Ap Mob leader, A$ap Yams setting the mood for the rest of the album “Trap Lord Season begins”. When the song starts proper, we have Ferg rapping over a beat reminiscent of 3-6 mafia circa 2001. His flow on this is not spectacular in the least and I don’t really think this is the best way to start an album but Hey! Hopefully the rest of the album is better.

SHABBA ft A$ap Rocky

I was broke last week but today be a  new day

Mothafuckas like cavities cause them  niggas be too fake (tooth ache)

Walk in this bitch with the new Wang, looking like Liu Kang

With a blonde bitch that wanna snoop  cane

Then she get the Batman like Bruce  Wayne (Master Bruce)

-A$ap Ferg

Probably bumping R. Kelly sipping  Cristal

So you know the whole world getting  pissed on

I don’t really give a fuck if you pissed off

I just bought a Mac-11 from the thrift  store

-A$ap Rocky

We’ve all heard this one already. The Fergenstein heard here is waaaay better than the one heard on the previous track and Pretty Flacko also doesn’t disappoint with that R.Kelly and Cristal line. JAM.

LORD ft Bone Thugs n Harmony

Reincarnation of Master Fard

Elijah Muhammad reside in my heart

Diss and I’ll blow, and shouts from Allah

-A$ap Ferg

You bout to get it from a general,

I dont know if they can hear me though

Don’t you niggas ever bother trying to see me im a criminal

-Flesh N Bone

For the love of the money B gotta reap  in what I sow

But I keep it what I know

For the ending of the row gotta go will i  go

When i get it ima know to follow my  known foe

-Bizzy Bone

Got em stuck in the grave

Im on the grind full time never rest to get paid

A little hustlin’ muthafucka put the brush to the face

I Cut the braids, hit the stage now they  looking amazed

-Lazy Bone

THE WHOLE VERSE!!!!!

-Krayzie Bone

This is a mad posse cut with Bone Thugs providing verses with their trademark quickfire flows. Even Ferg doubles up with his flow. The highlight of this song? Krayzie Bone’s 272 words verse!

HOOD POPE

Lord please what is my purpose

Besides fucking these Persians

Popping these bottles and popping  these models

Please tell me where is the Sherman

This one has a more sing-song style to it but it’s a rather personal track which has Fergy rapping about how he is the patron saint of the hood and hood kids and also, how growing up in the hood gives very few options.

FERGIVICIOUS

Hey, Joyde! Hi, twin!

Thinking ’bout my goddamn father again

Why he couldn’t see a nigga in Medusa  lens

Why he couldn’t see a nigga cop his first benz

Why he couldn’t see a nigga pop his first band

Another track where he skirts around different emotions and stuff going on in his life: fake friends, absent father, drug dealing. He doesn’t fully hit these subjects on the head, he just plays a game of touch-and-go and it works quite well on this one.

4:02

You lay it down don’t play around don’t make a sound

Let me see that ass bounce

This is a threesome. It’s really a waste of my time as it is. Moving on.

DUMP DUMP

Her hands all on my fade, bitch pop that ass in the coup

That bitch got Lisa Leslie money, she  balling, Sheryl Swoops

She keep rubbing her nose, I can tell  she wanna snoop

That coke make my dick numb, she put  it all in her glutes

Feel like Bishop from Juice, gun all in  my boot

“I fxcked your bitch nigga, I fxcked your bitch”. As zany as the chorus sounds, it just fits here. This is actually a good song, surprisingly. I expected it to be like Lil Wayne’s “beat shit out that pussy” but it transcends that. This is designer ratchet rap at it’s finest.

WORK REMIX ft French Montana,Trinidad James, Schoolboy Q, A$ap Rocky

Put in work, Flacko put ’em in the dirt

French got the shovel he gon’ put him  in the earth

Trinidad maniac with a all gold hearse

Yeah, uh, put in work

Schoolboy Q with a pound of the purp

So much work he’ll smoke up the Earth

Polo Ground, A$AP World

-A$ap Ferg

When they mask up, comin’ for your ice

When they bare-faced, they comin for  your life

Baby don’t pray for me pray for the  weak

I’m drinkin’ lean, it help me sleep

Illuminati? I’m from the streets

Never sold my body, we takin’ bodies

-French Montana

I fuck with Asian niggas And I fuck with  Migos

I fuck with Haitian niggas, all they speak is Creole

I said all I speak is real, y’all niggas  might hate me but

That don’t get no deal, I said no that  don’t get no deal

-Trinidad Jame$

Yeah, put in work, spray his ass in front  the Church

Deacon said I did my shit, the pastor  said, “That nigga turnt”

Pop my collar on my shirt, make these  bitches go berserk

Shippin’ units, Captain Kirk, takin’  xannies poppin’ percs

-Schoolboy Q

You want that pretty Flacko? Ratchets, designer jackets

The same niggas who jack it be the first  who claim we faggots

My bitch is a movie actress, side bitch  won a beauty pageant

Got a chick that worked at Magic

But I’m so damn fine make a bitch look  average

-A$ap Rocky

This track came out a while ago and those on my bbm or twitter tl would have noticed that I kept on using lines from this song especially French Montana’s part. This is another goood track.

DIDN’T WANNA DO THAT

They told me West got robbed (Damn)

Where the fuck them niggas be at

They took the chain up off his neck

I heard the mac started running laps

Oh, what the fuck are they goin’ to do  that

-A$ap Ferg

The lack of a chorus works perfectly on this one cos it woulda subtracted from the gritty feel of the song. On this track, Fergy is the hood’s gossip reporter as he talks about West getting robbed and asking where his friends were when it happened. Not deep deep but yeah! There are levelz to this shit

MURDA SOMETHING ft Waka Flocka Flame

Street educated, no use for G-tech

Niggas be talking but really don’t want  it

Put shells in your stomach, like pussy  you wet

Flocka like Rambo, I stay with the ammo

Test me, that’s a gamble like Russian  Roulette

-Waka Flocka

Might get ’em in church or something

We heard the deacon speaking

I’m Donnie McClurkin frontin’

I smell pussy, them niggas hurt your  cousin

All my people say “Stomp!” like I’m Kirk  or something

-A$ap Ferg

Whoa. Isn’t this a pleasant surprise? Waka doesn’t yell on this one and he actually drops bars. The beat, the chorus: near perfect. You have to jam this to believe that it’s actually good. I’m still in shock.

MAKE A SCENE ft Maad*Moiselle

Give me you wanted the bitch ain’t  important

You sayin she fire

The devil is scorching

Say bye to your mama say hi to the  coffin

This song has Ferg doing that sing-rap flow again. Not a bad track but it’s not spectacular.

FUCK OUT MY FACE ft A$ton Matthews,B-Real, Onyx

Pass that shit like a deadly virus

She want to hit, that’s Miley Cyrus

Hit it so hard, my god, she likes this

Change that chick’s name to Miley  Cypress

– B-Real

Aston Matthews in an Aston Marton,  driving retarded

Sipping on that Crissy cause a nigga  really ballin’

Headed to the telly with a bunch of Kelly Clarksons

-A$ap Ferg

I get that A$AP, A$AP, take naps from the K clap, I’ll bring it

Where you lay at, gang colder than face off, you don’t want to face that

Got these hoes dripping out the four socks, 44’s get the 4’s off

Four boats so the hoes drop, that rose gold keep it don’t stop

– A$ton Matthews

Bitch you didn’t ask my gangs official

Mad faced nigga with anger issues

Hundred mad nigga got a gang of pistols, blaow

Now how the fuck can a stranger miss you

-Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz (Onyx)

A track with cypress hill’s B-Real and Onyx on it? This should be crazy.

Well, it’s not crazy crazy. B-real’s verse was weak. I’ve never heard of the A$ton Matthews dude but he held his head way above water with his verse. A$ap ferg? Iono, his verse was just there. Then Onyx stepped in and just pissed all over the crime scene that is this track.

A good song but if I need some space on my phone, it’ll prolly be one of the first things that I’ll delete.

COCAINE CASTLE

Another day in the crack house, where  demons be talking to fiends

Couple hits and a blackout, needles be  stuck all in their veins

Sing a song that be stuck all in your  brain

That shit so potent, it have you doing  devilish things

The spaced out beat on this one is a nice way to end the album and matches up with the title of the song. The beat is trippy and ASAP Ferg does well on this, changing up his flow and delivery time and time again.

CONCLUSION

This album possesses no true soul as its production and lyrics flit from totally meaningless to deep, from trap to new york rap, from hyphy to slow song style. Due to this, the album sounds rather disjointed. It never really settles and the shortness of the album adds to that feel of a rollercoaster ride ending too early. The production on this album, although insanely G at times, left a lot to be desired at other times. Fergy rarely let’s his true emotions spill out on this album and when he does, the results are superb.

It took me about a month to review this album cos I kept getting bored midway through it. I think that says a lot about the album. One of the reasons for this may be due to the fact that most of the songs sound the same. The subject matter reflected in the lyrics becomes so damn repetitive at some point that it just hurts to listen.

In conclusion, is A$ap Fergy the trap lord? No. Is his style diverse? Yes. Is this a good offering for a debut album? Not really. Can he do better? Hell yeah. Will I delete most of these songs as soon as I’m done with this review? Yes.

I’m going to have rate this a C

Hall of Fame : A Review

Hall_of_Fame_Album_Cover

Nothing is stopping you

I woke up early on a saturday

Said imma cash my check anf hit some ass today

Hit the bank. My nigga  called me like ” go rap for Ye

He at the station. Rap that shit you rap everyday”

This is supposed to be some inspirational track to keep working and going hard. That said, it’s a very bad start to the album especially the part where he starts talking, with that said the track feels like someone just talking throughout, not much of rap to it, boring!

Fire

I don’t trust dog hoes. Dog hoes got fleas

From where they rock ski masks. Don’t nobody ski

Everytime i spit a verse, my city like “preach!”

It’s like i got evicted , gow my shit up in the streets

Now this is so much better than the previous. It’s a good sample, he got into a much better flow, more of what you would expect of him and his lyrics were unusual but still good.

10 2 10

I’m bringing home dead prez, my house done feel like its haunted

I put my city on my back, right along with my garments

Another ignorant track. The track is about how he puts the work in basically. The chorus/hook has him just shouting some things that are far from catchy (This ruined the track for me). The beat is bit of a drag. The track just doesn’t do it for me.

Toyota Music

Float around my town like its the motherfuckin seven seas

Hit the club, lose 7 gs , film it all on 7Ds

The title of this one should have been “unoriginal and uninspiring” . It’s this ode to drugs and i get that from the spaced out beat and stuff but he could have done better.

You don’t know

It’s finally famous, overbooked, overpaid and overpriced

But don’t get it twisted, that shit ain’t happen overnight

If you are really into em big sean bars, this track is for you. Another sample that goes pretty well, not bad at all.

Beware (ft Lil wayne ,JheneAiko)

Praying to a sky all black

Looking at the stars like they finna talk back

Looking at my phone like she finna call back

But last night i feel like i prolly ended all that

Cause by now she woulda sent a text in all caps

Then another one trynA take it all back

– Big Sean

I be screaming “ain’t no woman like the woman i got”

But she be always worrying about the one i fucked

-Lil Wayne

38975403-6646-4da7-9ca6-49b995280f10 600_1375550800_6e2a320ae59f49cb3aecd5524e2d2f5a

This is by far the best track off this album thus far. Jhene’s vocals were on point, the chorus went so well on this. Big sean goes on to spit some of those his usual stuff and Wayne was not at his best (which he is not atm) but still good. But the chorus is what set this track apart from the rest.

First Chain (ft Nas& kid Cudi)

She ask me why i rock all this gold, cause i’m coming in first

Got the streets behind me like i was staring in the rear view

-Big Sean

Cause its a mental game

I learnt that when i got my first initial chain

I didn’t fake it, it was gold plated. I was posin, relatin

To those dealing with blow, had the big gold, bold anchors it was those gangsters

– Nas

I’m so ready to go, my life is fucking awesome

I could be fucking dead right now but i’m awesome

Kid Cudi

6a00e54ee286eb883400e553c3833a8833-800wi DFI Red Carpet Arrivals for Cruel Summer - 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival

First time I listened to this track, I skipped both of Big Sean’s verses (don’t judge me). He did good on putting Nas and Kid Cudi on this, can’t fault him on that (they were both solid on this). The track has a good beat not all that solid but good. And his verses were actually okay but not enough to ward off the competition from Kid Cudi and Nas.

Mona Lisa

That’s what i’m down for, no convo, my condo

And if i answer this phone call, don’t make a sound ho

Again, I don’t get how this guy names his songs (L: he probably just puts a lot of random names in a hat and picks one without looking). Moving on, this is just classic typical Big Sean. It’s like he just switched to the Big Sean we are all used to, talking about women and sounding “ignorant”.

Freaky

A “Freaky” interlude to the next track.

MILF (ft NickiMinaj, Juicy J)

You wake up, i’m back. Eating all your snacks

Don’t’ ask for help woth your math. Ain’t my fault you can’t add

– Big Sean

Now what you got for me Sean? I heard its big and long

I take my teeth out, suck it good, this is where your dick belongs

– Nicki Minaj

I take that bitch to my mansion and nigga can’t pay her to leave

– Juicy J

 wale-nicki-minaj-juicy-j-clappers-video-shoot

Yeah this track is pretty disturbing. Lou will handle this.

L: this is just weird. I wasn’t going to download the album at all but after reading this review, i did and all i can say about this track is that it is freaky and funny as fxck. This is verbal porn . I’m not saying the track is food by a stretch, it’s just….what’s the word? ….Interesting.  let me just leave it at that. Download it and share in our discomfort. (nOTE: juicy j’s verse is wack tho)

Sierra Leone/ Greedy Ho’s

Complaining or trippin, man i got her damn near stripping

For the hanfbag livin, saks fifth’n, tag rippin

I like the laid back beat this track has. And it has big sean going on pretty well with the beat. One of the few nice vibes off the album. And then the track has this little sketch at the end that has him get robbed by a “greedy ho”. Lawd deliver your boys from church when this money comes.

It’s time (ft. Jeezy& Payroll)

Momma swimming in that debt

Rather swim with the piranhas or the sharks

– Big Sean

Showroom floor, paid every penny then i stunted

Stunted so hard, you would thought i was a stuntman

– Young Jeezy

They say its my time, according to my rolex

I’m about to fuck the game, then your ho next

– Payroll

Now this is a more appealing track. It’s what you would expect from Big Sean, the features were a good choice. Both Jeezy and Payroll had good verses. All in all, a good track.

young-jeezy 4sho-Magazine-DoughBoyz-CashOut-Chain-On-My-Dresser-Pt.-2-BTS-14

World Ablaze  (ft James Fauntleroy)

Around the same time, my mom said “sean you need a plan

Mrs freeman’s son hot shot and now she needs a hand”

 jamesfauntleroy

Another switch to that laid back feel where Sean starts rapping almost like he’s talking. The beginning of the track is pretty solid and James Fauntleroy provided some good vocals (even though it’s not the best I’ve heard of him).

I’m feeling how he speaks about the people in his life before fame and the problems they faced.

Ashley (ft. Miguel)

1377879845_big-sean-old-girlfriend-ashley-2013-the-jasmine-brand

Yeah, i just got a brand new benz

Crazy right? Brand new benz

And it’s got more miles on it than i do friends

2012 BET Awards - Radio Room - Day 1

The whole laid back vibe is really not doing it for me to be honest. But this one is actually an exception, Sean actually gets into a better flow, like I actually went with him on this. It’s a relationship type of song with Miguel doing his thing on it and this makes for a good one.

All figured Out

Next time someone try and tell you how to run your shit

and they ain’t major shit

Do yourself a favor: kick em out

The beat of this track is dope. Sean really went in on this like he surprised me on this, I was impressed. But I would have like it if he featured someone like Pusha or Wale on this, just saying. But I guess he really just wanted to own this moment.

Mula Remix (ft 2chainz, Meek Mill, Earlly Mac)

And i ball like Tim Hardaway

I can see a bad bitch from far away

Meek Mill

I prefer brown liquor, brown ladies, brown louis vuitton

Condom on before i go to work. That’s my uniform

– Big Sean

My gold on, i’m the bomb, i’m talking goldmine

– 2Chainz

Ye said that we the new slaves

I need to ball with a new chain

– Earlly Mac

1-Meek_Mill-Hot_97-hhdx 2chainz Earlly

Nah, I’m not talking about this one, y’all can see who’s on this collabo, let your imagination do the work for you. (L: for those of you that lack an active imagination, Imagine noise mixed in with weak bars and attempts at catchphrases)

Switch Up (ft. Common)

Bitch, i’m sexy as fuck. You ain’t even gotta tell me

I ride around to Pac, fuck my girl to R Kelly

I tell her “make me a sandwich, no PB and jelly”

She look back like ” what you think this is? A deli?”

– Big Sean

Chi town is my town. I ride around like i’m lying down

Southside. My eyes down, i’m the shit y’all fly around

– Common

 CommonPix

First off, the only reason why I feel Common is on this is cos they are label mates. With that said, Common owned Sean on this, as we would all expect. It’s basically a track about loyalty. A track one can call good but nothing near spectacular.

Guap

I give it up to God and he always replies

Yes! Finally the end of the album, I’m glad this track came last cos we all know this one and if you don’t well…come out from whichever rock you’ve been hiding under. It’s a good way to end this album. Turn Up!

Conclusion

We all know Sean isn’t a deep lyricist or a rapper that can manipulate rhymes or his flow.( I hope I’m not dissing him too much here) But the truth is Sean is more of a rapper that gives you that party vibe going, the whole playing around, turning up and what not.

Now with that said, I really didn’t enjoy listening to this album and I’m sure most of you haven’t really listened to it. The truth is Sean tried too hard on this album to make it deep. He went way past his own ability and why he did it, I don’t know. (Maybe he wants to be on a Top 10 GOAT list, which is so not happening). The album isn’t bad don’t get me wrong but the elements we appreciate about Big Sean are just very little on this album. Like where was the ignorance that made him do a song like ASS? That element was very much lacking. The tracks that were similar to that didn’t even make much a cut to me.

There were one too many laid back tracks on this, not that all were bad actually, but the whole fun Sean vibe wasn’t live on this album.

Yes there were one or two pretty impressive tracks but even with that, they aren’t going to be remembered for all that long.

And that pretty sums up the whole album sadly, it’s okay , but not memorable.

I’m done here, I think I’ve said way too much already. This gets a C-.

L.I.F.E : A REVIEW

Image

After the success of his two Burn Notice mixtapes, Burna has finally decided to bless/curse us with his album (we’ll find out which one it is in a bit). His genre is hard to define since his music has elements of different ones eg HipHop, New school fuji, Afro hip hop and Reggae. Reggae is the most prominent of these and this album will be reviewed as a mixture of all these albums. This is my second review of the album cos my memory card crashed along with my first review and my whole music library. 😥 . Yeah, my CV is gone too.

I couldn’t hear parts of what he was saying so I’ll just put a dash (____) instead.

Plus I think I might have gotten the pirated version of the cd so I think 2 tracks are missing.

MY LIFE

Everything I do today, I learnt from play

All the players turned to me

Now I flipped the script and turned the page

The intro plays slow and easy with Burna talking about his music roots and the fact that he is actually doing what he loves. The track also has a shoutout from Benson Idonije, his grandfather and also Fela Kuti’s former manager. Not a bad way to start the album

Image

NO NO NO

I pledge to Nigeria my country

If I’ve offended you please pardon me

Dem go think say Burna Boy na junkie

Cos I no sing ___ like Waconzy

The beat on this one is not as slow as the previous one but there is still this laid-back feel to it. And this is the song that had niggas shook up cos they thought he was dissing Waconzy. This song just has Burna doing his regular stuff, not bad.

SAY SO

This one no be party, na Rave

You have every right to misbehave

While the previous tracks were regular Burna-type tracks, this one has a jazzy + afro beat feel to it with the extended Sax solo and shii. Another good track .

Abeg Abeg remix ft 2face and Timaya

I see you. You see me too

I want this. The same way you want it too

-2face

I’ve been wa-i-ting for a very long time to tell you what’s on my mind

____To get to my level would cost them their whole lifetime

-Burna Boy

Every monkey wan chop the banana

That’s why everybody wanna hammer

Christians call God while the muslims call Allah

Your girl wanna feel like Michelle Obama

-Timaya

Image

Image

Depending on where you stand, this is either a good combo or a complete fail. 2face’s verse reeks of weed (which is probably the effect he was going for) and even tho Timaya’s verse was a little John Blaze, he just had to say re-use “why/guy/fly” rhymes. Another thing is that the original track is pretty old and he shoulda remixed something else. So, apart from 2face’s verse, this is a pretty good song.

On a second listen, 2face’s verse isn’t that bad.

ROSES

Me say girl, let’s be proper

Me tell your daddy, him have a sexy daughter

JAAAAAAAAM!!! I had already heard the first verse before and I liked it then and now that I’ve heard the full song, I like it even more. Leriq is a god for this one.

RUN MY RACE

Nigboro wan ti so mi di kingpin

Nitori won gbo mi lori speaker: GBIM GBIM

Awon omoge yapa lori blackberry: pinging

Awon to ti di arugbo say “what are you singing?”

We’ve all heard this song. Well, most of us have and it was a hit. He takes shot and defends previous shots taken against him. JAM.

BOOM BOOM BOOM

I’m not in a hurry

See your feelings before me

Slowly but surely

Goin to have to tell you sorry

The beat on this one has that roses feel to it but it’s more melodic and shii.

Image

This is a made-for-stripper-poles joint.

YAWA DEY

_______ when I drop my single

I was skinny and my face was full of pimples

Dem been tell me say this music industry simple

I don use my eyes to see no be so the ting go

The reggae force is strong in this one. I don’t even get parts of this song but it sounds like the kinda old school stuff Daddy Showkey or Baba Fryo would make.

MA LOADA MA MOTTO

 whenever-someone-is-singing-in-a-different-language_o_712083

If you don’t understand the title, you’re not alone. If you’ve jammed the song and don’t understand 90% of what he’s saying, you’re not alone. BUT if you don’t feel this jam (for some unexplainable reason) , you’re ALONE. ALONE!

TONIGHT

I dey see your woman

And I dey hold my woman

And I be real magician

I fit to get your woman

Another song that we’ve already heard and felt. A slow jam that got played in clubs, that’s some rare stuff. I really can’t say more about this that hasn’t already been said.

LIKE TO PARTY

We’e going to use some imagination here.

prince-brb-using-imagination-since-no-pics-eccbc87e4b5ce2fe28308fd9f2a7baf3-287

In your minds, ja? Just copy everything I said on TONIGHT and paste it here. Done? Good Good. Moving on.

SMOOTH SAILING

Say boy. I go dead o! Say dem never call me back. Pussy never call me back

Peel off like potato! For setting dem honey traps. Setting off dem honey traps

This song is all sorts of good. The beat, the flow. The chorus is rather repetitive but it works just well here.

DON’T RUN ft Olamide, Reminisce

Focus on the money not ashewo with her ass o

Anytime police dey look us, dem just wan harass o

– Burna Boy

Find my way up. Hustle lati bere

Most ghetto youths ni kekere won ni keke

O ni ile ni Lekki. Shii. O le month what’s up

Wo ni awa local. Nigga lockup

-Reminisce

Never compare Obatala with a living god

Me no compare dead lion with a living dog

-Olamide

Reminisce Olamide1

Yeah, this one is a rap ting with a good verse from Burna, a strong one from Reminisce the Alaga Ibile and an even stronger one from Baddo Lee. This track has the three artistes rapping about their come-up and how difficult it was to get to where they are now.

JAH’S LOVE IS TRUE ft Wizkid

I’m being kind when I see this is the worst track on the album. Burna does his best to save it but Wizkid had already made the track a living pile of poop. Jamming this track to the end was a really agonizing experience for me.

Burna-Boy-and-Wizkid-612x409 wtf_is_this_shit2_RE_73_Million_Sharks_Killed_Every_Year-s468x349-71815

REMEMBER ME

When man made his mind up and say he riding to the death

Willing to shed blood and sweat

And if he must go to war, then go gladly

And his last words: make sure you remember me

If this was Burna’s last album, this would be his farewell track. The title already implies that and each verse has a different message. This is by some distance the most personal and lyrical effort and the album so far. It had no jingle-like lines. G shit.

WOMBOLOBO SOMETHING

As I just enter. They sing my song

No dey look back, steady look front

Cos I’m about to blow like a bomb in iraq

And everybody know say they like it like that

This track is sorta old. Even though he didn’t release it as a single, it has always been just floating around. A good track that pays respect to Angelique Kidjo’s classic song.

CONCLUSION

This album is diverse to say the least. It shows the full extent of Burna’s abilities from rapping, singing and doing his reggaetton thing. He even shows that he can make the generic Nigerian party track (Ma Loada Ma Motto). There is no central sound to the album as it borrows from different genres. If you’re looking for a good time or a party album, this is that album cos it does not disappoint on those grounds.

On the other hand, Burna fell victim to the same thing that made him stand out in the first place: his ability to sound like he’s freestyling and to still sound awesome doing it. There are some moments on the album where he sacrifices pure wordplay for flow. His flow is impeccable for the full length of the album but this comes at a price, the price being generic lyrics at times. The good thing is that Burna’s fans don’t give 2 fxcks about his lyricsm or wordplay, all they’re looking for is a good time which this album more than provides. This album had me looking for Mushin2Mohits and Superstar cos it stands out as a strong debut effort from someone who surely has more years to build on his pure talent.

In conclusion, I’m going to have to give this album an A
